A Look at my student's Notes

This is a place where students pause,

to attend, to perceive, and to explore.

I used to grade with great care

my student's notes.

They let me see their presence,

they showed they had discovered

a new world a new way.

Students already following a dream.

They were not passive learners anymore,

they open to the world

thousand of possibilities

were given consideration and more.

A behavioral neuroscience study conducted by researchers at the University of California and Princeton University published in 2014 showed that students who take notes write thoughts, and sketch ideas by hand perform better with conceptual questions, and increased problem-solving, than other people who don’t record notes or sketch ideas.
According to the study, one explanation for this exciting discovery is that writing, drawing, doodle with pencil and paper allows people to summarize and organize information in their own words and ensures more profound and natural coding and understanding of their surroundings. In contrast, the no use of a pen or the use of electronic devices inclines them to think passively.

Learning Color with The Masters - The Opposite or Complementary Colors

Applying one Layer at a time Color by color and layer by layer, students craft their work. My student chooses a work from the Masters of Impressionism, and it will go this way: 1. The student prepares the canvas using Gesso to seal and prime the canvas before the oil is applied. The gesso should be toned down; this way, the canvas doesn't lose its texture, and the oil will run smoothly. Also will protect the canvas from deterioration; the oil will ruin the canvas quite fast if it has not been primed. 2. The student draws the artwork carefully, soft lines divide each color and each object. Students are not allowed to use a grid; they only find the middle point by drawing an "X" across the canvas, then drawing. The Triptych Students need to work together towards one tell, one element of unity, and 3 in one composition. So the viewer looks from one panel to the next, in order to come to terms with how the art speaks to them and how they can appreciate three different artworks in one composition.
